Our Grand Knight's Message:
Welcome to the month of May, the most beautiful time of the year! Very soon, we will be celebrating
“Mother’s Day”!
Many of us will plan a visit with mom if we are able or perhaps a phone call will have to do. The rest
of us will take some time to cherish the memory of her unconditional love. Do you recall ever experiencing a long walk home from school with a note from your teacher folded in your picket to be read and signed by your parents? At one time or another, the majority of us were forced to pay a price for our unfortunate involvement in mischievous behavior. Who do you suppose was the first to be notified of these inappropriate misdeeds? It was always Mom of course. In matters such as these, Mom always seemed to lend a more compassionate ear as you stood before her pleading your case, knowing that you were guilty as charged! More often than not, her intervention saved many of us from a trip to the woodshed with dear old Dad.
May was also the time of the year when we in our youth participated in a ceremony in which we
crowned the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus Christ our Savior. Remember the beautiful songs
we sang in her honor? Inside the church, a group of students formed a “living rosary” that was
beautifully recited. During the course of our lifetime, we have repeated these words contained in the “Hail Mary” many, many times. Holy Mary Mother of God Pray for us sinners Now and at the hour of our death
Because we all know too well, whom we want on our side come judgment day.
Starting tomorrow make a habit of placing a rosary along with your wallet and keys and carry it with
you on a daily basis.
On Saturday May 7th at 6 p.m., we will be celebrating Mother’s Day at the club with a roast beef
dinner. Place your name on the sign up sheet at the club or call in your reservation by May 5th
between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Your must sign up or call to participate.
Please keep brothers Bill Baluh and Ed Talarek, who have recently passed away, in your prayers.
A BIG thank you, to Dennis Fink for donating his winning Pot of Gold ticket to our Elyria Catholic
Scholarship Fund!
Thank you for your support and may God bless you.
